The Greater Amman Municipality launched a comprehensive campaign to secure crosswalks in its various districts, as part of its efforts to enhance traffic safety.
The campaign includes renewing the existing crosswalks by marking them and providing them with clear guidance elements, such as warning signs.
Through this campaign, GAM seeks to protect pedestrians, especially students , and promote traffic safety,in conjunction with back to school time.
The Director of the Traffic Operations Department at GAM, Eng. Shadi Al Rawabdeh, stressed that citizens' safety, especially school students, by securing crosswalks, represents a major priority for GAM.
He indicated that traffic lights are safe crosswalks, and considered an optimal way to ensure a safe and organized crossing for them
GAM explained that this campaign comes in response to traffic and field studies that revealed the urgent need to develop pedestrian infrastructure, in a way that contributes to reducing accidents, and enhances safety
GAM also stressed that its field teams will continue to carry out these works according to a studied time plan , and with the least possible impact on the daily traffic
