Sustainable Urban Development Project
A UNDP-supported project aimed at:
01 Applying urban sustainability standards for civilization.
02 Confronting climate change.
03 Reducing CO2 emissions.
04 Changing the traditional lighting of more than 56 gardens of the Greater Amman Municipality to LED lighting.
05 Rehabilitating the Basman area building into an energy-efficient building through the application of a thermal insulation system.
The Planning Sector, in collaboration with UNDP, is coordinating with the Amman Green City Plan project to unify the efforts to complete the success of the Amman Green City Plan by:
06 Developing Amman Urban Observatory and building a city database of 25 indicators (energy consumption, water, waste, air pollution, high and medium voltage transmission lines, rainwater and sewage drainage networks, economic, social, cultural indicators, etc.).
07 Preparing an electronic guidance system for citizens to implement energy efficiency programs in existing buildings and calculate economic savings.
08 Developing the capabilities of building engineers to receive applications for green building projects and providing incentives to encourage the growth of the green economy and stimulate energy efficiency in existing buildings.
09 Linking climate change projects to the Monitoring and Follow-up Project of the Ministry of the Environment.
10 Implementing energy efficiency projects in Municipality buildings and installing smart lighting units for 56 Municipality gardens.
