The “Fada’t Amman” musical festival activities carries on with artistic and music shows in the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) parks until June 26; the event is organized by OrangeRed, in cooperation with the Executive Agency for the “Child-Friendly City.”
Last Thursday, the Dabka Band / the “Arts in Everyone’s Grasp” project gave an artistic performance at Al Wihdeh Park in Al Jandwel, which included ahazeej and dabkat (folkloric songs and dances) inspired by Jordanian heritage, and accompanied by an artistic show by the Jordanian rock band, Jadal. On Friday, musician Macadi Nahhas performed a number of songs which were welcomed by the audience who were spontaneously immersed in the performance.
The festival consists of artistic and musical performances every Thursday and Friday of June, that include folkloric dances (dabkat) and a puppet theater as part of the “Arts in Everyone’s Grasp” project organized by GAM, in addition to shows presented by OrangeRed with the participation of the Jordan Academy of Music and a number of Jordanian artists.
Within this context, the “Arts in Everyone’s Grasp” project, which the Executive Agency for the “Child-Friendly City” offers in 15 locations, aims at providing all members of the community with the opportunity to enjoy all forms of art, and to utilize them creatively, socially, and culturally. The project also aims at endowing children with social and economic concepts that play a part in improving the quality of life, and employing the children and youth’s spare time in useful activities.
The participating children from the Capital’s various regions received training through the free “Arts in Everyone’s Grasp” program at the end of each week, covering 5 kinds of art, namely, puppet-making, crafts, and drawing, music, singing, dramatic arts, and folkloric dances (dabkat).
It is worth noting that the “Arts in Everyone’s Grasp” program stems from GAM’s dedication to activating Amman’s libraries and parks, and strengthening their role in serving the local community, especially during the summer holidays, in addition to allowing cultural and artistic activities to contribute to honing children’s talents and creativity.
