The Abu Nsair Directorate organized on Thursday a Voluntary day to promote the ethics of clean environment among people. The campaign themed "Abu Nsair: A Beautiful Town and Exceptional with Its Residents", and featured the participation of more than 3000 citizens.
Ziad Al Kayed, president of the local committee at the area, said the campaign targeted all members of the local community, and at different ages, to enhance communications and cooperation between Greater Amman Municipality and its citizens. He pointed out that the municipality aims to achieve its goals in making Amman a clean, environment-friendly capital.
Kayed said that the Urban Housing Corporation and the civil community societies have contributed strongly to the success of this campaign. Schools, youth clubs, NGOs, and the Public Security Department have all helped in conducting murals and drawings on the main streets and school walls in different 15 locations around the town.
There were also other works, like re-painting the pavements, walls, and planting trees conducted by the students and local citizens, who lent a hand in making the process a successful one. Kayed said GAM has provided all the required facilities under the supervision of Engineer Jawaher Obeidat, director of the Abu Nsair area, and through the liaison guards there. A newsletter was published to inform the citizens about the environmental advantages of such campaigns.
