Jordanians continue to enjoy the Amman Summer Festival, which was launched on July 8 and runs through July 24th Jordanian singer Mahmoud Al-Khayyat enchanted his large audience, at the King Hussein Parks, by the music and songs performed together with his musical band. Some of the songs Al-Khayyat performed were traditional and folkloric such as "Ween A Ramallah" (Where: To Ramallah!), "Nezlin Ala Al-Bustan" (The Girls Went to the Garden) and "Wa Sari Sara Al-Layl" (Oh, What a Night!). He also sang national songs, like "Ya Bairaqna Al-Aali" (Our Lofting Flag).
Other activities on the site were performances by folkloric troupes, notably the Karak Troupe which presented a national operetta titled “Al-Hasaad” (The Harvest), symbolizing the relationship between Jordanians and their land. The operetta was characterized by the special musical effects and traditional accessories that epitomize Jordans habitual style of living, as well as the folkloric musical compositions and popular dances.
Jordans most famed duo, and idols of the Star Academy TV Show, Bashar Ghazawi (Ghzawi) and Salma Ghazali, have performed several joint musical events in the festival, during which they presented their famous hits as well as Arabic classics. Ghazawi started the show with his popular hits, including "Kolhali" (Tell It to Me), along with a number of Jordanian and Palestinian folkloric songs. Hundreds of children from Amman and other cities in the Kingdom took part in these activities, and enjoyed their time in watching Sesame Street and Uncle Shadis Tales.
