Central bank of Jordan launches service for mobile payments

The Central Bank of Jordan CBJ launched a service for mobile payments in accordance with international practices . The service enables citizens to make payments amongst themselves and with business sectors in addition to making withdrawals through opening online wallets at financial institutions licensed by the CBJ for that purpose or through using accounts at banks connected to the service . The CBJ provides payment tools that enable citizens to pay transport fees shop and pay for services through selling points spread around the Kingdom using the near field communication technology . The CBJ said that paying public bus fares electronically is the first stage of mobile payments . Amman mayor Akel Biltaji said that e payments service for parking lots at Ibn Khaldoun Street Al Khalidi will start in a week after accomplishing its infrastructure . He added that mobile payments service will positively enhance public transport services in the capital .
