Mayor of Amman Omar Maani said that Jordan used cars exhibition Haraj opposite to the North transportation complex is to be moved from its current location by the end of this year 2010 noting that Greater Amman Municipality GAM stopped issuing vocational licenses for the stores in the exhibition
Responding to a note raised by one of the citizen s phone calls to Hawa Amman during the program With the Mayor Maani clarified that the exhibition will be moved because of the traffic confusion and disturbances it makes in that area and that GAM has already selected three alternative locations for this purpose
He also declared that the delay of this stop is attributed to the detailed study of the traffic and investment conditions to come up with a distinctive typical model
He pointed out that GAM spent about JD 7 millions in 2009 to build drainage lines in Abdoun valley Al Qaisyeh avenue Ras El Ein the city center and all the way to Ein EL Ghazal station and Al Zarqa basin
The Mayor said that GAM is implementing a modern rain water drainage network that ends in Abdoun valley since the present network for some main streets in west Amman suffers old unsolved and accumulated problems streets as Mecca Al Madina Al Munawara Zahran Medical City and the new areas in King Abdullah II Street
During the program presented by Rosine Naber he touched upon Amman Institute which embraces Jordanian capacities with significant experiences in comprehensive planning and building urban establishments and compounds and he mentioned that the Institute became a regional center for cities planning after the World Bank selected it as a regional center for urban studies.
He referred to the Institute s projects contracted with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs to spread knowledge to the Jordanian cities, in addition to conducting a study highlighting GAM s expectations to resume the development project of the city center which represent old Amman characteristics starting from the station Hijazi Railway ending at the Romanian Amphitheatre and GAM Library
He ascertained that GAM teams handled the citizens notes raised during the previous encounter like installing a bump in Sufian Ibn Wahab Street in Tla Al Ali and installing signs that prohibit parking in jam traffic periods in Khalil El Salem Street
The Mayor further promised to provide the area of Thu Al Hija Street next to Mecca Mall with lighting to resume the drilling works of the Ministry of Communications in Marj Al Hamam next to Al Bardini Circle to pave the space between a street edge and a sidewalk for a building in Tabarbour within this week
Commenting on a call from a citizen who lives close to Al Jumrok Customs Circle, the Mayor ensured GAM s intention to increase the number of signs and cameras on the main streets to eliminate accidents occurrence
A citizen expressed his gratitude during the program to the employees in the Mobile Claims Unit namely the employees Yazan Rifai and Luai Akkash for their constant follow up and immediate treatment of citizen s issues
