GAM Affirms the work of Public Transport on its Lines as Usual Next Tuesday (Elections Day)

The Mayor of Greater Amman Municipality (GAM ), Omar Maani instructed the Department of Public Transport to take all necessary measures to sustain the work of the various modes of transportation on all the lines, as effectively as possible, during the elections day, next Tuesday. Director of the Public Transport Department, Engineer Abdul Raheem Al Wreikat, said that his department, upon instructions from the Mayor of Amman, shall ensure that its modes of transportation function on the usual lines to serve the citizens and facilitate their movement during the elections day, reaffirming, at the same time, that priority is given to sustaining the work of public transport on all lines as usual. He further said that inspectors are to be deployed on the starting points of the “complexes” in the daytime and until late hours. Roving inspectors shall also be there to ensure that passengers have access to their modes of transportation, and as the need may arise, since early hours. Engineer Al Wreikat pointed out that the Department of Public Transport will contemplate any request from the operators to work on the lines of the election centers, in coordination with the concerned agencies (governors and the Traffic Directorate). This is to include the elections day, and in accordance with the volume of requests.
