The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) Council on Sunday ratified a decision appointing Eng. Ammar Garyabeh as City Manager in GAM, Eng. Mustafa Luzi as Deputy City Manager for Public Services, Mahmoud Khleifat as Deputy City Manager for Administration and Financial Affairs, Eng. Fawzi Mussad as Deputy City Manager for Public Works and Eng. Samir Assfour as Deputy City Manager for Planning and Economic Development. The appointments came following a strict and transparent selection process followed by the Selection committee. The Council expressed gratitude to Amman Mayor Omar Maani for this process. One post, Deputy City Manager for Social, Sport and Cultural Affairs, remains unfilled as the applicants did not meet the required criteria and prequalification. Maani said that GAM will place an add in the local dailies to attract applicants form outside the Municipality for this post. This is the first step in a project to enhance and improve GAMs structure and performance in various departments and districts. The selection process included a study of the applications by a technical committee that abandoned applicants who did not meet the conditions as published in the newspapers. Then a Higher committee studied the remaining applications leading to the finale selection of the candidates to the appropriate positions. 104 applications were received for the posts. All were submitted by GAMs current employees, then 23 passed to the second stage in the selections process. GAM made public to its employees the available vacancies and sought the employees participation through applying for one of the 6 posts during the duration between 24 May and 22 June.
