Mayor of the Greater Amman (GAM), Omar Maani, stressed, in a circular issued on ’Eid Al-Adha” occasion, the importance of conducting working shifts for GAM cadre of the respective regions covering working hours during the ‘Eid holiday .
In the circular, the Mayor requested to raise Jordan flags on intersections, bridges, and important landmarks of the city of Amman.
It also requested the concerned officials to raise the number of workers, sanitation superintendents, drivers, of compactors at night and to maintain vehicles work as usual to address any arising remarks, in addition to focusing on cleanliness of plazas, mosques, graveyards, parks, and public gardens
The circular also requested that the capacity of the sanitation work should be 50% for the first day, 75% of the second, and back to usual pace on the rest of the days, i.e. 100%.
Executive Director of Sanitation and Environment, Engineer Zaidoun Al Nsour said that GAM has directed its regions and departments to secure working shifts to receive any arising complaints or remarks, and to open their offices before the cadre of environment, hygiene control, construction control, and disease contamination control. The respective teams are to coordinate amongst them to discharge with the required missions and jobs, in addition to organizing night shifts to maintain the cleanliness of the City during the ‘Eid holiday.
On her part, Director of Hygienic and Vocational Control, Dr. Mervat Mheirat, said that GAM shall continue to maintain hygienic and vocational control during ‘Eid al Adha holiday as usual. She further added that the concerned offices shall have to receive citizens’ complaints in this regard through GAM emergency centers.
All lines of public transport in the Capital shall be served as usual during the ‘Eid, with controllers being available at the transportation complexes. On Wakfat Al ‘Eid ( the ‘Arafat Day ), controllers shall have full working hours owing to the heavy transportation movement on all lines during the day, to be able to enhance these lines if needs be.
Holiday of the Wholesale Central Market shall only be limited to the first and second days of the ‘Eid, and work, as usual shall be resumed henceforth.
Amman Abattoir, on its part, shall maintain its usual working hours on Wakfah Day and throughout the ‘Eid holiday to secure slaughtering of sacrifices as per Director, Mahdi Al Aqrabawi.
The Director of the Parks Department, Engineer Nibal Qattan said that working hours of public gardens shall be at full pace during the ‘Eid to enable them receive visitors on two shifts: morning and evening; birds parks shall receive visitors until sunset.
Traffic parks in Amman shall receive visitors from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. These parks include mock ups of streets, intersections, and traffic lights, in addition to electric cars to train children on the best ways to tackle the traffic process and to learn how to comply with the traffic safety rules.
It is worth mentioning that GAM traffic parks amount to 5 : Sarh Al Shaheed in the Sports City neighborhood, Tla’ Al ‘Ali , Prince Omar Al Faisal in Marka, and Juwaideh, in addition to Al Hussein Parks Traffic Garden which receives children, in normal days, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
