The Greater Amman Municipality completed paving and maintenance works on an area of 600,000 square meters of the Capital’s streets, at a cost of JOD 3 million during the past 3 months, putting into action the 2009 work plan for the Municipality’s regions.
The Director of Road Maintenance, Engineer Ahmed Khreisat, stated that work was underway on paving streets in the regions of Tla’ Al Ali, Husban, Um Al Basateen, Al Naser, and Tareq, and that paving works on specific streets had been completed according to the Marka region work plan.
He added, “Maintenance work (patching) has been completed on an area of 189,000 square meters, in addition to the paving of alleys and widening of streets in different locations throughout the Capital.”
Eng. Khreisat explained that the Road Maintenance Department has produced 83760 tons of hot asphalt mixtures for street widening and paving purposes using the Municipality’s mixer, in addition to year-round constant maintenance.
It is worth noting that, last year, the Greater Amman Municipality completed, on an area of 5,500,000 square meters, maintenance and paving of old and more recent streets in all of the Capital’s regions at a cost of JOD 83.5 million, in addition to preventative maintenance works, expansions, and asphalt mixture production.
