The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) furthered the national holiday celebrations of with the inauguration of Marj Al Hamam Park and Uhud (Al Mustanida) Bridge Intersection, at an estimated cost of JOD 4,286,000.
During the opening ceremony of Marj Al Hamam Park today, Mayor of Amman, Engineer Omar Maani, attested to GAM’s special interest in increasing green spaces in Amman, establishing natural outlets for citizens, and providing infrastructure for sports and IT activities, by opening libraries and IT centers throughout GAM regions.
Eng. Maani affirmed that establishing Marj Al Hamam Park falls in line with GAM’s strategic goal to provide a safe and urban environment for children and to improve the environmental situation as best serves the local community.
The Park which was built on an area of 10 dunums with a cost of JOD 687,000 includes an IT center specifically equipped for those with special needs, on an area of 330 square meters; a football field; an administrative and service building, on an area of 110 square meters; open-air and shaded squares; paved passageways; green expanses; sand-boxes for children; and beautification works and location coordination.
Head of the Local Committee of Marj Al Hamam region, Mohammad Al Manaseer, praised GAM’s accomplishments which coincide with the national celebrations and the constant efforts to establish comfortable surroundings for the citizens of Amman, through the implementation of projects that serve the local community.
On behalf of the residents of Marj Al Hamam, Nasser Al Mifleh gave a speech commending GAM’s dedication to developing the region and to implementing service and developmental projects that embody H.M. King Abdullah the Second’s vision.
Along these lines, the Manager of Amman City, Eng. Ammar Gharaibeh, inaugurated Uhud (Al Mustanida) Bridge Intersection on Al Hizam Al Da’iri Street, at an estimated cost of JOD 3,600,000.
Gharaibeh pointed out that the bridge links east Amman to Al Mustanida region, and is comprised of a 4-lane-wide upper bridge, with 2 lanes in either direction. This project also includes road and wall works, site coordination, and pavement works.
The bridge should help ease off traffic congestion, in addition to preserving the environment, controlling pollution by decreasing the gases emitted by car exhausts, and achieving economic development, while also increasing green spaces.
