City Deputy Director for Public Works, Eng. Mustafa Al Louzi, confirmed the commitment of all workers in diseases vectors (insects and rodents) combat at Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) to show their ID cards before the citizens while performing their duties.
During patronizing a workshop organized by Vectors Control and Animal Care Department, Al Louzi stressed on following up on the commitment of all cadres working in vectors fighting domain to show the special defining card, wear GAM uniforms, and to introduce themselves while offering the service, calling on the citizens to pay attention for all these aspects.
The workshop aimed at coordinating GAM’s efforts to enhance the efficiency of home insects fighting campaign for the current year, and also at looking for all necessary health and environment precautionary procedures before initiating the campaign.
Director of Vectors Control and Animal Care Department, Engineer Shtoura Al ‘Udwan reviewed GAM’s summer campaign to fight vectors, which will begin as of the middle of the current month in all GAM regions and will continue until the end of next November.
She added that the campaign, which starts with the rise of temperatures, will include spraying the manholes, water gathering locations, and the health hazards, as well as the abattoirs, the refinement stations, conversion stations, containers and dumpsites, in addition to the vegetable markets which are ideal habitat for insects and vectors to breed and multiply; in addition to using machines for mosquitoes during the evening times in cooperation with directorates of GAM regions.
The campaign includes fighting rodents by planting traps in drainage manholes and open locations under the supervision of highly qualified and well trained cadres of GAM.
Engineer Al ‘Udwan pointed out that the Department established “East Amman” Center which will take effect this year to serve the regions: Kherbet Al Souk, Al Qweismeh, Al Mgabalein, Al Jeezah, Al Mwaggar, Sahab, ‘Uhod Husban, Um Al Basateen, and Na’our; the new center will be merged with West Amman Center and the Main Center of the Department.
She further stressed on the importance of cooperation between the local community and the citizens in all GAM regions in this campaign by keeping the surrounding environment clean, which shall eventually reduce the use of insecticides to combat insects, and eliminate the environmental pollution.
