Jamila Khair- The Departments of Environmental Projects, Social Facilities, and Tlaa Al Ali district in the Greater Amman Municipality, in cooperation with “We Platform,” one of the Crown Prince’s initiatives, launched awareness and community acceptance campaign for shops and residential neighbourhoods in Tlaa Al Ali district (Gardens Street).
The campaign aims at consolidating the idea of sorting from the source and the importance of recycling to preserve environmental resources and open investment opportunities, asa new project for society, in addition to raising the level of public awareness and cultural level, and focusing on the importance of accepting modern ideas and behavioural patterns, changing habits and behaviour, and enhancing the role of society in the development process managed by state institutions.
These campaigns come within the second phase of awareness and community acceptance campaigns for the project to establish recycling banks (in the areas of (Wadi Al Seer / Tlaa Al Ali - Al Baraka neighbourhood))
The project, which comes in cooperation with the US agency, is considered one of the innovative solutions that contribute to enhancing waste separation from the source and stimulating the commercial sector to adopt recycling practices.
The project is based on establishing centres in special and specific locations within the city to collect recyclable materials of market value, instead of collecting them mixed together and ending up being buried in landfills.
It is noteworthy that the responsible for the project, including employees and partners, were previously trained in workshops, through the Crown Prince Foundation (We Are Platform), to enable them to conduct awareness and community acceptance campaigns for residential neighbourhoods, shops, and relevant institutions within Tlaa Al Ali district.
The launching of the campaign ceremony was attended by the Director of the Environmental Projects Department, Engineer Soha Shishani, the Director of Facilities, Engineer Ghaida Al Hadid, the Director of the Tlaa Al Ali District, Dr. Rakan Sulaihat, and a number of Projects Department employees in addition to district employees.
