Mr. Haider Mahmoud, director of the Cultural Department at the Greater Amman Municipality, deputized Mayor of Amman at the inauguration of the Flowers and Gardens Exhibition 2006, which takes place at the Cultural Village of King Hussein Parks.
The exhibition is organized by the Parks and Entertainment Department (PED) at GAM, and in cooperation with the Jordanian Agricultural Engineers Association (JAEA). Mahmoud praised the active efforts by the PED to increase the green areas in Amman, and enhance the environmental aspect. He also praised the exhibition for being innovative and interactive.
From his end, president of the JAEA Engineer Abdel Hadi Falahat emphasized the significance of mutual cooperation between the association and GAM, simplified in organizing joint events and activities such as the Flowers and Gardens Expo which is being organized annually since 2001. Falahat expressed his gratitude to GAM for its endless cooperation and contribution to the development of Amman.
Organizers of the Flowers and Gardens Expo aim to enhance the public awareness about Jordanian production of flowers and plants. The expo also helps in enhancing the mutual relations among agricultural engineers and their contribution to the development of both the public and private sectors in Jordan.
The expo includes several booths of agricultural companies and arboretums that display their products for public. GAM is participating with a special booth about its own production of plants and gardens around Amman. People can buy their needs of flowers, plants and fertilizers from the expo at reasonable prices. There is also a photo exhibition for flowers and gardens, as well as book fair about agriculture and gardening.
A special training course will be held later this week about the gardening, along with another workshop for children titled "How Do You Paint Flowers?" There are awards will be distributed at the end of the expo on August 11, designated for best flower photo, best booth, best painting and best gardening.
