Jamila Khair - The Greater Amman Municipality and Princess Sumaya University for Technology signed a memorandum of understanding ,to enhance joint cooperation in the scientific research, training, consultation fields and exchange academic expertise
Under the MOU, which was signed by the PSUT President, Wijdan Abu Haija, and Amman Mayor, Youssef Al Shawarbeh, the two sides conduct specialized scientific and engineering studies through graduation projects, Master’s theses, and research papers on challenges facing the GAM, in addition to exchanging competencies and expertise, provide consultations, and cooperate in implementing joint sustainability projects. It also includes conducting an ad hoc academic and professional training for GAM's employees in the creativity, innovation and artificial intelligence fields, while PSUT students will be trained in GAM's various competent departments
Al Shawarbeh praised the cooperation, which aims at raising efficiency and performance of GAM's employees, and increasing level of community awareness on the importance of sustainable development, stressing that advanced achievement can only be made by true partnerships among Jordan's institutions and all sectors
Abu Haija said that the memo comes within the framework of enhancing community cooperation, transferring expertise with national institutions, and contributing to serve the local community through scientific research and joint projects, which go along with Princess Sumaya directives, in developing technological developments
She also stressed the university’s commitment to provide academic and technical support to GAM to achieve its development goals
The signing ceremony was attended by Amman Mayor Deputy, Muhammad Al-Qaisi, the City Manager, Engineer Ahmed Al-Malkawi, a number of officials in GAM, the university’s Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Bassam Hamo, and members of the University’s Dean's Council.
