GAM plans to complete Queen Rania street expansion project

The Greater Amman Municipality is studying a proposal to complete its project of expanding Queen Rania Street after finishing the first phase before Eid.The Municipality is conducting studies to reduce the size of the middle- pavement in the street starting from the University Hospital intersection to the Sport City Circle, Amman Mayor Assistant for Engineering Affairs Fawzi Masaid said. He added that GAM completed the phase one of the project which covered the area from the University mosque to the University intersection. The remaining works include fixing the metal along the middle-pavement and planting long trees, which would not distract the vision of the drivers and the pedestrians. The project started last month and included expanding the street by adding one more lane making the total lanes to reach three. Reducing the size of the middle pavement in a manner that guarantees a beautiful and safe conditions. Meanwhile, the project included also fixing a 1,750 meter metal fence, which would be a barrier to prevent the pedestrians from crossing the street in the unsafe zones. The overall objective of the JD 266,000 project included also reducing traffic congestion in one of the busies streets in the capital. The project duration was 70 days.
