GAM singes a deal with JFDA over food monitoring

The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jordan Food and Drugs Administration (JFDA) to determined the responsibilities of the municipality in monitoring food in its districts.The agreement organizes the efforts paid by different agencies to ensure strict food monitoring system within the capital and it would avoid duplication of such efforts. GAM Mayor Eng. Omar Maani signed the MoU with the Director of the JFDA Mohammed Rawashdeh in the presence of Health Minister Salah Mawajdeh. Maani said that this cooperation between the tow organization will benefit the citizens at the end of the day, "this is in the interest of the citizen" he said. GAM seek close cooperation with its partners and the JFDA is one of the major partners for the Municipality in the food monitoring policies, Director of the Public Health Department in GAM Merveit Mhairat said. Rawashdeh said that this agreement would unify the criteria in the food monitoring business in the largest area in the Kingdom in term of population. JFDA was established in 2003 to ensure safe food for human consumption at all stages.
