The Greater Amman Municipality will place garbage containers specified for collecting and sorting electronic and electrical waste in all districts in order to limit and reduce environmental risks and negative effects of these materials.
The director of electronic waste sorting project at GAM Eng Yazan Al Rifai said that GAM has recently set up waste and electronic materials sorting department to highlight the seriousness of these materials if arrived to groundwater and the reach of children and abusers.
He added that GAM will launch at March the first an awareness campaign through media and through distributing guidance brochures to citizens and students in parks and public places that include scientific information about the seriousness of electronic waste such as screens computers batteries mobiles and chargers on the surrounding environment and the health of citizens.
Rifai said that four containers specified for specific type of waste will be placed at main places in every district in cooperation with Ministry of Environment adding that places with these containers will be protected against abusers and the department cadres will collect and dispose the waste in an environmentally-friendly manner.
