Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) recently concluded the Ramadan “Tribute to the late king Hussein” Campaign which targeted charitable societies, shelters for the orphans and the elderly, residential congregations, special needs people and the needy families.
GAM launched the campaign upon the directions of HM King Abdullah II, which call for paying great attention and taking care of the needy families and the charitable societies.
The Mayors Advisor for Districts Affairs, Mahmoud Al Armouti said that this is the third consecutive year of the campaign in the month of mercy and solidarity, Ramadan, with the aim of alleviating the economical burdens on the needy families; it is also meant to support the charitable societies to help them fulfill their human message which is subject of admiration and respect by all of us.
In this context, Mayor Maani had recently paid visits to a number of societies, shelters for the orphans and the elderly, and was briefed on their missions and the status of the residents.
He congratulated them on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan and commended White Hands Association – Dar Al Diyafa ( Guest House for the Elderly), Orphans Welfare Society, and Mar Mansour
Association for their active and positive roles in extending educational and health services to the child orphans.
“Such services”, the Mayor maintained,”have undoubtedly helped raise well informed and distinguished generations in all spheres.
A designated committee for the campaign had distributed packages and donations in kind to the needy families and residential congregations to include Sahab Orphans Center, Mabarrat Umm Al-Hussein, Dar Al-Birr, Orphans House Society, Children Welfare House-Shafa Badran, Mathabat Dar Al-Eman (Charitable House of Faith), Al-Manara Orphans Center, SOS Childrens Village Association of Jordan, Hamzah Bin Abd Al-Muttaleb – Marka, Jordan Women Development Society Al-Ashrafiyah, Blind Cultural Forum-King Abdullah Gardens.
Al Armouti pointed out that the Campaign had secured shelters for the orphans and the elderly with Iftar meals, while distributing the packages and the donations.
The Mayors advisor drew the attention to the fact that the campaign has adopted the accredited societies by the Ministry of the Social Development, and the concerned intuitions such as Al Zakat fund (Islamic tax) of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
It is worth mentioning that Amman Municipal Council has approved the launching of “Tribute to Late King Hussein Campaign” for the second year running during the month of Ramadan at a value of 750.000 JDs.
