A cooperation agreement was signed, Saturday, between the Greater Amman Municipality and the Calabria region in Italy, in a way enhance the bilateral partnership and develop it until further extent. Mayor of Amman, Eng. Nidal Hadid signed the agreement on behalf of GAM, while Mrs Antonella Naim, representative of Calabria’s Regional Economic Council. Members of the accompanied Italian delegation and GAM’s senior staff attended the signing ceremony, which was held at the GAM’s premises. Following the signing, Hadid stated that the agreement aims at exchanging know-how and knowledge between the two sides regarding the municipal, cultural, touristic and economic aspects. He noted that the agreement will pave way for further cooperation on different other aspects between GAM and Calabria’s municipal councils. Exchange of know-how will mainly tackle the issues of architecture, renovating old monuments, environmental protection, waste management, public parks and beautification facilities. Hadid, meanwhile, emphasized that the agreement did not specifically highlight the investment opportunities but, amicably, encourages such opportunities in Amman since the private sector in the Kingdom is being encouraged by the government to do so… “We provide every potential help for the private sector in Jordan to compose such agreements to facilitate its reach with the Italian private sector,” Hadid added. On her part, Mrs Sidano expressed her admiration of the high levels of architecture in Jordan, and Amman in particular, saying that the agreement between GAM and Calabria will help in enhancing bilateral understanding of civil structural designs, and how to promote funds — public or private ones — in public transport and the Geographic Information System and civil planning.
