The follow-up committee of the Twin Agreement between the US city of Chicago and Amman would organize the “Amman Week” in Chicago later this year. The event aims at presenting a comprehensive integrated vision of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in whole, notably in the touristic, cultural, economic, sport and social aspects.
Through its recent meeting in Amman, which was headed by Eng. Falah Omoush, secretary of the Greater Amman Municipality, the committee decided to coordinate its efforts with all the respected local institutions, including the commercial and industrial ones, to encourage them to participate in the Amman Week event in Chicago. Such participation, said Omoush, would demonstrate the rapid developments that took place in Jordan, and Amman in particular, over the past decades.
A number of agreements would be signed through the event in the United States, in which representatives of Amman and Chicago would exchange know-how to present the development of business environment in Jordan. The week also aims at promoting the efforts of the Jordanian community in the US, which estimated at 70,000 people, and enhance their relations with their homeland, Jordan.
Omoush noted that a committee named “Friends of Amman” will be formed from the Jordanian community in the US, to follow-up the strengthening efforts of mutual relations
Documentary films and seminars would be part of the Jordan Week in Chicago, in addition to photo exhibitions and art demonstrations that represent the Jordanian culture and heritage and display them for non-Arabs in the US.
The follow-up committee comprises representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the GAM, the Jordan-US Business Partnership, Chambers of Trade and Industry in Amman, and the Al Hussien Sports City.
It is worth mentioning that His Majesty King Abdullah attended in Chicago last year the singing ceremony of the Twin Agreement between Amman and Chicago. Mayor of Amman, Eng. Nidal Al Haddid and Mayor of Chicago attended the ceremony as well.
