Khalda bridge is open for motorists

The new bridge at the Khalda conjunction was opened for public on Tuesday after the completing of 90 percent of the project’s construction, which began last May. The JD 5.8 million project aims at easing traffic of vehicles at the area, linking the northern Amman with one of its busiest areas. The bridge, which was also illuminated with towering lights, serves motorists in their destination on the Wasfi Tal Street (Gardens St.), linking the northern Amman district with Amman Baccalaureate School area. An informed source at the Greater Amman Municipality said the project is part of GAM’s endless efforts to enhance the social and economic development around the capital and in a way to ease the daily traffic jams at many parts of Amman, especially the one at the Khalda area. During the construction works, GAM officials applied easy and smooth detours for motorists who used to pass the street there prior to the project. GAM’s informed source pointed that detours were made to ensure better service for motorists and to accomplish the construction work in reduced possible period of time. Besides the bridge, there is also a tunnel to be opened for motorists who use the King Abdullah II Street (Medical City Road). The tunnel serves motorists with three lanes on each destination. The whole project is expected for an official inauguration in August.
