Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) recently organized a lecture at the Martyr Traffic Park titled “Be Patient” by Dr. Ahmad Nofal, professor of interpretation at AL Shari’ah Faculty in the University of Jordan, in the presence of a huge audience from the local community members.
This lecture comes within GAM’s activities for the Holy Month of Ramadan, organized by Traffic Parks Section which falls in the jurisdiction of the Social Centers Department, as part of its interactive plan with the local community.
Nofal talked about the true meaning of patience in Ramadan, pointing out that fasting motivates people to learn new lessons, such as tolerance and endurance.
Dr. Nofal gave many examples on the types of patience in our daily life, namely, the mother’s patience with her kids, the husband’s tolerance with his wife, the driver’s carefulness, the teacher’s broadmindedness to his students, and the father’s patience with his children.
He said that tolerance and patience are some of the Prophet’s characteristics, as well as his companions, who used to absorb each other’s rage with good words, and smiles; they even contained the hostility of their enemies.
Nofal called on the fasting people to empower themselves with charity, good deeds, and forgiveness, to enable them collect a great credit in their lives, and what’s after, pointing out that Ramadan is an opportunity to pay back for the sins and guilt, and to make new beginnings of life.
In closing the lecture, Dr. Nofal responded to the attendees’ questions regarding Ramadan and fasting.
In the same context, Social Centers Department held a lecture on health and fasting by Dr. Sameeh Saleh at Prince Hashem Park, during which he reviewed the health benefits for the fasting people; he also gave several recommendations on the suitable behaviors during the Holy Month of Ramadan. At the end of the lecture, Dr. Saleh responded to many questions and queries by the attendees of the local community.
It is important to note that GAM offers many activities related to Ramadan, such as Iftar banquets for orphans and religious lectures.
