Mayor of Amman, Engineer Omar Maani honored on Monday the two Jordanian poets, Abdullah Abu Shamis and Iman Abdel Hadi, for their win of the Youth Poets Competition, which was held in Jordan recently.
Maani handed awards to the two poets, in a special ceremony held at the Jordanian Poetry House of the Greater Amman Municipality. Minister of Public Sector Development Salem Khazaaleh, who is also chairman of the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation, attended the ceremony together with General Manager of JRTV Corporation, Faisal Shboul.
Both Abu Shamis and Abdel Hadi have won their awards among 70 Jordanian contenders who participated in the national competition. An arbitrary committee was formed to evaluate the participants, and comprised of Jordanian experts, poets and critics.
A number of poems were recited during the festival, especially these read by Jordanian poet Habib Zyoudi, director of the Poetry House, and poet Aladdin Armouti. Both Abu Shamis and Abdel Hadi also read some of their poems. The festival is part of the annual activities for the Poetry House in Amman
