Mayor of Amman, Engineer Omar Maani deputized Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah at the inauguration ceremony of the musical festival by the Zaha Cultural Troupe. The festival was organized on the celebration of the birthday of Queen Rania.
The festival took place at the King Hussein Cultural Center, where the chorus of the Zaha Cultural Troupe has performed spellbound songs and dances led by Rawan Al-Ali and the musical band. Songs from the Syrian and Jordanian heritages were performed during the ceremony, along with the classical songs.
Mr. Rania Sbeih, director of the Zaha Cultural Center, said the main objective of having a musical band and chorus and dancers at the center, is to preserve the national heritage and songs from extinction. She said that the new generation needs to be aware and informed about the heritage of Jordan and each of the Arab countries.
The band and chorus will have the chance to represent Jordan and Zaha Center at the national, Arab and international festivals. The chorus comprises of 40 children, along with 8 children performing the music besides the sole chanting. Both the band and the chorus have passed 20 months of extensive training.
