Mayor Receives Academic Delegation from Denver University

Mayor of Amman, Engineer Omar Maani recently received a delegation representing the academics and students of Denver University in the United States. He briefed the 25-member delegation on the Greater Amman Municipalitys Master Plan, the development plan of the public transport in the City, as well as the latest social and economic developments that took place in Amman which celebrates this year the 100th anniversary of its first municipal council. The meeting was attended by Director of the Special Projects Department at the Municipality, Eng. Bashar Haddadeen. Head of delegation, Dean of the Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management at the Daniels College of Business in Denver University, Professor Mark Lee Levine praised the remarkable growth Amman has witnessed over the past decades. He expressed happiness for visiting the City, which he dubbed, The Center of Cultural and Civilized Emanation. Levine thanked the Mayor for the kind welcome and hospitality during the delegations stay in Amman. In the meantime, the American delegates were briefed by Deputy Director of Research and Outreach at Amman Institute for Urban Development, Ms. Hania Maraqa, on the institutes tasks and activities, and later watched a documentary about Ammans history, featuring its social, economic, political and urban developments. The delegates admired the quality and extent of projects that GAM is conducting in the Capital, as well as for the future developmental plans and the urban growth in general. It is worth mentioning that Denver Universitys delegation is currently touring several Arab countries to exchange educational and academic know-how with their Arab counterparts.
