Mayor of Amman, Omar Maani, expressed his appreciation to the efforts that led to the success of the 2nd Amman Stand-up Comedy Festival ASCF which took place on 4 - 10 December 2009.
During the Mayors meeting with the organizers of the festival, he said that this years ASCF achieved an impressive success in audience attraction, organization, and coverage by local, regional, and international media which accurately reported the events performances and shows.
Maani stressed that next years 3rd edition of the festival will be held on a larger scale to give the chance for a bigger audience to attend the stand-up comedy shows in which witnesses an annual participation of many local and international famous comedians.
The mayor indicated the festivals 1st edition learnings were well noted and avoided this year. With 3 thousand spectators attending the 4 day 1st Comedy festival, motivated the organizers to increase the days of the comic shows that were this year.
He previously mentioned that Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) received many calls from Arab cities to utilize GAMs experience in running such festivals, pointing out that the festival is a collective cooperation between GAM, The New York Arab American Comedy Festival and Orbit Showtime Network.

According to Maani, the Festival gives the Jordanian Capital an important dimension in making it a regional and international platform for stand-up comedy performances, in addition to enrich the Citys cultural movement.
