Mayor of Amman, Omar Maani, reconfirmed the interest of Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and its persistent pursuit to creating urban spaces within its plans to develop the city, especially in the crowded areas.
During the program With the Mayor broadcasted by Hawa Amman FM, the Mayor clarified that the urban spaces represent gathering point and activation for the local community, once these spaces are rehabilitated and prepared to hold different activities.
He also highlighted GAMs accomplishment of Al Ashrafiyeh cultural Center which was inaugurated last week by the Prime Minister, Samir Rifai, pointing out that the center includes yards for pedestrians, exhibitions halls, IT center, a library with a section for the blind, indoor and outdoor theatre, and several stores, all in a distinctive location with a great view over most of Amman areas.
Maani commended efforts exerted by GAM cadres who worked day and night during the recent weather conditions which prevailed in most of the Kingdom cities, he added that GAM teams, since Thursday morning, were in a high emergency status and GAM received no reports on traffic issues resulted from water gatherings.
In the program presented by Rosine Naber, the Mayor responded to the questions and notes raised by the citizens since the last encounter; one of his answers was that GAM installed an asphalt tape between a street and a sidewalk for one of the buildings in Tabarbour after Tareq Mall traffic lights.
GAM machines also handled with the asphalt mix a street with water gathering located 20 m before AL Jumrok (Custom) Circle.
Commenting on a citizens request to install bumps on Al Sefsafeh Circle next to the railway, the sub-road, the Mayor declared that GAM will raise the sidewalk level within the next two weeks, and that GAM is planning to install directional signs and reflectors within one week for a 4km long street in Sahab to maintain public safety.
The Mayor promised to visit Jabal AL Qusour, after a citizen requested to enhance cleaning works in that area, Maani emphasized that GAM is eager on the cleanliness matter in all the Capital areas.
A citizen also demanded to rehabilitate Mousa Birment Street conjunction with Abdul Hadi Arab Street in Wadi Seer/ Al Jandaweel.
The program received many calls form the citizens commending the radio stations program and its Complaints Mobile Unit.
