Mayor of Amman, Omar Maani, ascertained that Greater Amman Municipality is concerned with preserving and maintaining the cultural and artistic features of the City, and that Jordanian art pioneers are part of the Amman memory and identity.
Maani added, during the program With the Mayor which also hosted artist Sakher Hattar, supervisor of Bait Al Ruwad, that Bait Al Ruwad conducted in one year over 43 events, in addition to several concerts in other cities of the Kingdom.
Maani pointed out that GAM moved Bait Al Ruwad to a new location, which was headquartered in Bait AL Sher (Poetry House) to Prince Hashem Park in Al Hashmi Al Shamali.
The Mayor further commended the interest and follow up by different media modes to cover the activities launched by Bait Al Ruwad whose 29 members include personalities of singers, players, and composers.
On the program presented by Rosine Naber, Hattar declared that Bait Al Ruwad is a musical, artistic, cultural and social salon that is adopted and supported by GAM; it embraces a group of artists who handle the mission of raising the Jordanian musical movement since the 50s until the present time.
He also appreciated GAMs support of these artists, emotionally, socially, and financially, and for providing them with a place where they can practice their musical and artistic activities, which eventually furnished them with social comfortable atmosphere.
The program received a phone call from Dr. Emil Haddad, through which he commended GAMs initiative to gather the musicians, players, singers and composers.
He clarified that what is different in Bait Al Ruwad initiative is the quality of the songs that eternally dig deep in the memory, and he expressed his hope that GAM continues its support to the cultural and artistic movement, and encourages musicians to create new songs and musical pieces.
Artist Mousa Hijazeen also cited his gratitude to GAM for this initiative which allowed the great artists restore their creativity and innovation.
In the same context, the Mayor said that GAM is responsible for founding Darat of the King Abdullah II for arts and culture in Ras El Ein region, instead of the old tobacco warehouses.
He referred to a GAM tender for an international competition between the architects for modern construction designs, of which the winner was Zaha Hadid who officially became in charge of the design process and supervision during the implementation stages.
Maani said that engineer Zaha will arrive within a couple of days to Amman to explain the preliminary design of the project and its principles.
He highlighted that the components of the project Darat of King Abdulla II for Arts and Culture include building two theatres; the fist will have a capacity of 1600 persons, and the second can hold 400, furnished with all audio systems and modern theatre equipment, in addition to a training hall for different arts.
