Prime Minister Meets Marj Al Hamam Residents

Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit said that His Majesty King Abdullah directives to successive governments is to improve citizens living conditions and ensure that they feel the effect of development projects.Bakhit added that the government has a comprehensive plan to up grade the level of services offered to citizens in all fields. During a meeting with residents and dignitaries of Marj Al Hamam and Al Wadi Al Akhdar, with the attendance of ministers of municipality affairs, and interior Nader Theherat and Eid Al Fayez, Bakhit said that the government has for the first time prepared a map on land use to eliminate the random distribution of urban areas and preserve the country agricultural land. He clarified that tourist attraction will also be designated on the map to protect the country historical sites and safeguarded the environment. In the future the map will include water and electricity conveyance network and roads. In reply to questions on building fees and taxes, Bakhit said it will remain as it was for the next five years, until the living level and the services quality are changed because of the joining decision. The prime minister also added that this decision came as an organization issue and has no relation with elections law. During the meeting Dr.Bakhit said that alleviating poverty and unemployment tops his governments priorities. He also called on citizens to vote in the coming municipal and parliamentary elections. Amman mayor Eng.Omar Al Maani explained that the decision to expand GAMs boarders was taken for regularity purposes, organizational, where it was asked from the municipality to prepare a comprehensive plan pointing that the neighboring districts are a natural expansion and it forms an urban program in land use. The other reason is to upgrade the services level. The mayor added that this road which will surround Amman from all directions is considered a unique chance to redevelop the neighboring hood; pointing work in the first phase has started. Concerning the fees and taxes, Al Maani clarified that building less than 400 square meters are exempted from paying any fees.
