Prime Minister Marouf Al Bakhit inaugurated today the project of HRH Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II on the airport road network and the surrounding streets, with a total cost of 35.725 million dinars .
Chairman of the Amman Municipality Committee Engineer Ammar Gharaybeh assured the importance of the intersection which connects north and south of the capital city of Amman with the region through the seventh and eighth circles, which has witnessed the busiest traffic .
He added that the municipality will launch this year series of projects some are: the intersection of Shmeisani , the downtown development project as well as the Bus Rapid Transit project (BRT), which is the leading project of the municipality to develop the system of public transportation in the capital. After the opening, the Prime Minister, accompanied by Chairman of the Amman Municipality committee, had a tour in the intersection and the surrounding streets .
The project, which lasted for 450 days, is an intersection of multi-level (4 levels) with a capacity of six lanes and a length of 1.6 km based on the level of the street. And a flyover Bridge with a capacity of two lanes in one way with a length of 270 m that connects Marj Al Hamam with the Airport Road at the intersection of Seventh Circle, also there is two tunnels on two levels under the Airport Road, one on the top with two-way and two lanes for each direction and connects Prince Hussein Street with Marj Al Hamam, and the other basement with two lanes in one direction connects Prince Hussein Street with the Airport Road. The project also included lighting system and the requirements of traffic safety as well as coordinating the site with basaltic stone, planting and greening .
As for The second phase it includes the streets network of Corridor Abdoun, where the work is being done to complete the roads network surrounding the intersection and the completion is expected within 40 days .
