Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah on Wednesday inaugurated the permanent exhibition of (View Amman) at the City Hall building in Greater Amman Municipality. The permanent exhibition provides information on the efforts of the master plan and the urban future of the city and it documents the major developments and major future projects of the city.
The Queen accompanied by the head of Greater Amman Municipality committee, Engineer Ammar Gharaybeh toured at the exhibition facilities, which includes a 48 square meters model of the city that highlights the features of Amman, including infrastructure, historical places and commercial, cultural, urban civilization landmarks.
Her Majesty stopped along with a group of children at the childrens corner in the exhibition to inquire about its goals on helping children to learn , love and read maps , which included a map of the city of Amman with all the important sites, it have been developed with the childrens participation.
As part of the visit, Her Majesty toured the Arts for All section where 15 children were participating in a painting workshop for the Amman Map.
Explore my City, a new program by the Amman Institute for Urban Development dedicated to children, teaches them to be active participants in building their community. The programs main aim is to develop a sense of citizenship among children towards their street, neighborhood and city as a whole.
The Queen was also briefed on The Kite Mystery Story publication, which is part of the Explore my City Program by the Amman Institute for Urban Development.
In addition, Her Majesty attended part of the Childrens City Council assembly, where members were discussing the terms of reference for community committees and their roles in serving districts, Created to help children better express their opinions, and to empower them to participate in the decision-making process, the council has 158 members elected from public, private and UNRWA schools in nine areas of Amman.
The session was run by the President of the Childrens City Council the student Mohammad Yousuf, in the presence of Deputy City Manager for Cultural, social and sports Affairs Engineer Haitham Jweinat.
