11-3-2024 -Jamila Khair - The Greater Amman Municipality announced that in cooperation with the Artillery at the Jordan Armed Forces, the Ramadan cannon will be fired from Al Nakheel Square/ Ras AlEin, in conjunction with the Maghrib (sunset) Adhan to mark the time of iftar throughout the whole month of Ramadan.
Cannon firing during Ramadan is a historic and long-standing tradition, GAM aims at reviving this ancient Ammani heritage.
It takes place every day before Maghrib prayer, which announces the end of the fasting period and the beginning of iftar, and can be heard throughout the city and the surrounding areas.
