Volunteer Work Campaign in Abu Nseir Region

The directorate of Abu Nseir region, in cooperation with local community commissions and Abu Nseir Club, organized a volunteer work campaign in the region, with the participation of the region’s school children. Greater Amman Municipality Council member and Head of the Local Committee, Engineer Ziad Al Awamleh, said that the involvement of the local community in volunteer work campaigns plays a part in strengthening citizens’ sense of belonging and responsibility towards their city and community. He also praised the cooperation and participation of the local community commissions in serving their region. The Head of Abu Nseir region, Eng. Emad Al Dmour, attested to the region’s interest in encouraging the local community to interact and participate in protecting the environment through organizing volunteer activities and holding awareness lectures about cleanliness and preserving the environment in the region’s schools. The campaign included beautification works on separate locations in the region, the removal of debris, cleaning works on Jwerieh Umm Al Mu’meneen School, Princess Iman School, Al Madares Street, and a number of squares and parks, as well as planting trees in public squares and the pavements of a number of the region’s streets. The Headmistress of Jwerieh Umm Al Mu’meneen School said that involving school children in these kinds of campaigns plays a role in instilling a sense of belonging and giving back to their community, highlighting the effects this has on strengthening the Municipality’s efforts to preserve the environment. Students Leen Khaleel and Rawan Ahmed from Princess Iman School expressed their joy to be part of this volunteer service in the region, and their hopes for the continuation of such environmental campaigns that serve the Municipality’s regions and keep the city of Amman clean. It is worth noting that this campaign is the eighth to be organized by Abu Nseir’s Local Committee since 2004.
