Wakalat Street Opens

The Greater Amman Musicality on Sunday opened Wakalat Street in Sweifieh, the first in the capital exclusively for pedestrians. “We consider this street as a success story for the idea of designating certain streets and locations for pedestrians and as shopping areas,” Amman Mayor Omar Maani said. “The New shape of the street in line with its commercial and tourism nature,” he added. As part of the JD 850,000 project, GAM paved 17,000 square meters with coloured tiles, posted maps on the street’s entrances and built a kiosk to provide services to visitors. The municipality started work on the project on May and has completed the major part of the work.
