More than 7000 citizens visited the First Amman Food Festival, which was organized by the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), and took place at Al Hussein Parks, with different food varieties, and artistic and recreational performances for all the family members.
Mayor of Amman, Omar Maani, said that organizing such a festival aims at activating the touristic and social movement through creating an opportunity before the public to get familiar with food varieties and the popular, Arab, and international cuisines of all tastes.
The Mayor stressed GAM keenness on activating its cultural, social, and touristic role and extending everything new to its residents.
He further added that holding the Festival for the first time ever poses an experience to be utilized for future events, which, in itself, is bound to expand participation, meet all demands, and avert any shortcomings and pitfalls.
Twenty-two concerned agencies, representing touristic restaurants and hotels known to be serving local and Arab dishes, in addition to local Jordanian societies and companies dealing with foodstuffs, participated in the Festival.
On the other hand, children and other members of the family enjoyed the various free games, and attended the different artistic and recreational performances such as children plays, magician shows, Kanafeesh, the Incredible for Modern Dancing, Dabkeh and folkloric dances by GAM Troupe, in addition to visiting the Royal Automobile Museum, and the Children Museum. The Festival concluded by songs performed by the Jordanian Artist Ziad Saleh( on Al Hussein Parks Theater.)
An informed source at GAM has declared that some disturbances and hick ups have been promptly and adequately addressed, especially that the number of visitors has exceeded expectations, which resulted into crowds’ congestion and the depletion of food samples earlier than expected. The Source also added that the overall image of the Festival was positive, and all the activities could draw smiles on the faces of visitors.
